001 ☠ [text]
So... i believe its safe to say that im thoroughly discombobulated!
I mean ...i suppose stuff of this caliber probably happens all the time to big shot superheroes like the x-men, but good gravy it wouldnt hurt to give a fella a decent warning before you go chucking him haphazardly across the whole freakin multiverse!
This wasnt exactly what i haggled for when i said i wanted off my island.
Not that im complaining of course! No siree!!
This place looks like a hoot and i plan on getting up to my elbows in some serious exploring!!
But i guess this summon was sort of like a need for superheroes?
Im not an x-man or an avenger or any of those other spiffy world saving types back home but ive got a whole lot of moxie and reckless bravado!! And i guess id like to help??
[Poor Jake hasn't gone too far past the gates. He's trying not to be nervous, but this is the first time he's been in public since his mutation manifested. What do.]

action;
He wondered if she was a mutant, too? Or maybe an alien? Either way, he guessed it didn't matter too much. He shuffled his way inside, visibly perking at the notion of tea. His wings bristled up as well, mirroring the excitement.]
Tea sounds absolutely bully!
action;
[she admits this a little sheepishly as she pads over to the kettle and begins pouring the boiling water into the ready and waiting mugs. it's easier for her to relax in a familiar environment, especially since Jake seems to genuinely be harmless. it's nice.]
action;
[Oh, these were tasty. He comments as much, which just sounds like a garbled noise because he's still eating the cookie.]
action;
I guess the not chocolate ones are good too, huh? That's good to know! I haven't tried them yet.
action;
They're wonderful!
[Ah, so what does he say now. Small talk? Movies always go for small talk, he just has to not make it awkward small talk because THAT always happens in movies and the whole thing would come out awkward. When has small talk worked in movies, come to think of it. Was that a hint?]
So where are you from, then?
action;
[well, that certainly told her he wasn't involved with the game at least. it's a little reassuring to know that he doesn't come with that possible judgement and danger.
she pulls her teabag up and down a few times, chewing on her lip a little. it's obvious that she wants to ask if he's human, but that is really rude and pushy and might go down a road of reciprocation she doesn't want. damn need to be socially cautious.]
action;
Oh right, you did mention Alternia before, I think. What's it like?
[If he notices any social uncertainty he doesn't comment on it.]
action;
[her expression is something between a grimace and fond recollection. it was horrible, but it had been her home.]
But there were good people in it, and it could be really beautiful if you didn't let it break you. At least I thought so.
action;
It sounds like an interesting if terribly chaotic place. It sort of reminds me of home.
[He paused. This was okay to talk about, right? He tapped his fingers somewhat nervously on his tea mug.]
Depending on what you were back home, you could either live very well, or very terribly. We had our share of terrible beings causing mayhem on our cities every so often, which is why I spoke so casually of superheroes, you see.
action;
[her eyes stay focused on the mug as she lifts the teabag out and places it on a napkin]
Did the way you could live depend on things you couldn't control where you lived?
action;
[At that question though he nearly sputtered and his feathers pricked up.]
Ah- Yes. Yes, actually a lot of it had to do with that. There are people in my world called mutants. They're born a bit differently from other normal people. The rest of the world treats them something of a plague. Depending on where you live it'll get you killed- or worse.
action; wow that sure was a sentence i wrote up there
action; ,msds;lkfs shhhs hhh i didn't even notice
[His tone shifts very slightly to frustrated. And of course he does slip and say 'we'.]
action; sob i didn't either until i got your reply back
I can understand that. Trolls are hatched with different blood colors, and where you are on the hemospectrum determines how you rank. If you're really low then you have to be careful about everything you do, beclaws the people higher up are entitled to kill you for any reason at all.
[she stares down piercingly into the contents of her mug, the only indication about her strongly she feels about this topic the tight way she's gripping the spoon]
I hate it.
[it's not smart to get worked up like that, though, and she quickly realizes it. Nepeta untenses slowly and looks up at Jake with a small smile and shrug]
It's probably not as similar as it could be, but it's close enough that I think I get it. People can be pretty dumb sometimes.
action;
They certainly can. Its nice here, though. This is the first time I've really left my home since the pesky feathered things made themselves a thorn in my side.
The fantastic thing about being a mutant is that you might not even know you are one until you've hit adolescence. You're completely normal and unsuspecting and then WHAMMO! Its like a very rude game of Russian roulette.
action;
I never really left my house until some stuff happened with my friends, so Darstone's pretty great for that. You can get up early and explore all you want!
action;
[Grins.]
I have to say I'm terribly looking forward to that. I've already made plans to find this so-called quest board. Perhaps I can drag Strider into these shenanigans, as well.
action;
Maybe it's beclaws I've never really been able to do it before, but I think just poking around the city's the best part of being here. There's a clawful lot of neat stuff you can find if you just wander around.
