Hey, has anyone seen the quest on the board about going down to ...uh, Deepground? Anyone thinking of taking that up? I kind of want to chart the caverns around here, so... I'd like to go if you do.

I was kind of looking for someone already planning to go, but it looks like I accidentally started a group of my own. Whatever works, right?

It's a pleasure, and yes, I'm certainly not one to question happy coincidences. Anything I should know about this quest beforehand?

Not a lot to go on right now. They want a bunch of people to go exploring some caverns below the city to look for some mythical place called Deepground. I'm just assuming ahead of time that the trip will be dangerous, but I figure if Deepground exists then the powers that be might appreciate a map to it.

A map would certainly be a very precious thing, I agree. Nothing quite like marching into unknown territory blind.

Ahaha, yeah, I know. [Hence Nami's plan to hide behind a bunch of reliable muscle >_>] So hopefully I can kind of ... I don't know, make things easier. But aside from that, I've always liked making maps.

[Oh, Nami. u_u] Are you a professional cartographer, or is it just a hobby?

Professional! I mean, I'm really a navigator, so the two go hand in hand. But there's a lot less call for navigation down here.

Excellent. But you never know, perhaps someday you'll discover something that'll require those set of skills as well.

There's plenty waiting for me when I go home. But here...? Well, there's the lake. And maybe we'll find an underground sea one day.

Or go topside. That'd be nice.

I do hope it'll be topside. An underground ocean sounds incredibly unnerving for some reason.

If it helps, it's probably not likely. And it'd have to be even deeper than we are, or we'd have seen signs of one by now.

Again, unsettling, if the possibility exists. Good to know it's unlikely, though. Never really went out to sea, myself.

Not much of an ocean fan, or just never had the time?

Time, mostly. Busy working and all that. You know how it is.

I don't, actually... but I've heard a lot of other worlds have a lot less travel on the ocean, so I can imagine. My world is mostly islands, and everyone wants to be a marine or a pirate.

A...marine or a pirate? I can understand wishing to become a marine however small that population is, but a pirate. Now that's a first.

It's a quick and easy way to getting power and riches at the expense of others. Not exactly my favourite kind of person.

Yes, awful. Doesn't sound very easy, though. Surely they couldn't find something less, hm, intense? Like scamming, or thievery?

See, scamming or thievery? Much less violent! It doesn't get people killed, for one.

...well, usually not. I'd guess if they picked the wrong target they might be in trouble.

That's the exciting part about living carefully in the dangerous lane. Picking and choosing your battles, though there's always that chance your plans can go awry.

But that's all still part of the fun, too, isn't it?

I guess it depends on how much trouble you get in to. A little trouble's not so bad. Especially if you still win.
