002: Second Video
<small>[Eddward steadies his hat. Several more gadgets are on his person--some sort of magnifying monocle, some rings on his fingers, and he appears to have a belt with various tools in them. Several books are scattered throughout his personal space.]<big>
Greetings again, fellow Otherworlders! This is Eddward speaking, your astute local paperboy!
At first I was rather off-put <small>[Putting it mildly, are we Eddward?]<big> by our sanctioned migration to Darstone, but I was perhaps mildly hasty in my initial assumptions...
"Magic", as you would have it, functions far more closer to the sciences than I originally thought! I'm no "magus" by any means, but from what I've gleaned from these books--as well as a certain fellow boarder, you know who you are!--the very process in which "magic" is utilized has a very scientific approach! You see, much like the theoretical science of "alchemy", "magic" essentially boils down to equivalent exchange: firstly, the user has an amount of "mana", if you will. Secondly, the desired spell is recited in a specific manner. Lastly, assuming the body has sufficient amount of magical resource and the spell recited perfectly, the desired effects are sprung forth!
This is of course just a generalization, but isn't that exciting!? <small>[Eddward begins to speak in a much quicker, far happier tone than the one he normally carries.]<big>
The magic from my home is...well, it's nonexistent. Maybe. This crossing of the dimensional latitudes has certainly shared knowledge the likes of which we would never have ever fathomed! <i>Isn't that exhilarating!?!?</i>
<small>[Deep breath...]<big>
Hwhew...sorry, I went off on a tangent there.

I believe I may have found a very interesting piece of information. A field test may be in order very soon, so keep your ears and eyes open, ladies and gentlemen!

Uh-huh. Riiiight.
Now. Why don'cha repeat that for all those of us who do speak whatever it was you were babbling in kiddo.
[Sorry Edd. Summoner is just as good in magic as he is in science. Which really isn't much. And the big words weren't helping. Maybe if the subject were about battle techniques or animals?]

[He tweedles his fingers together in a sort of tic.]
You see my point?

[Give him time. He will learn.]
I guess that kinda helps really. I've personally been kinda uncomfortable with all this 'unknown element' mumbo jumbo. Nice to see it has an explanation behind it all.

[While going through a shopping list...]
Can't say that I have. While entertaining they may be, especially as one might expect of my age, I find biology and other sorts of educational know-how to be both rivetingly entertaining "and" productive.

'Unless said laws are being written by someone who thinks reality should be a badly-written anime, that is.'

[The list gets put away.]
A tinge of interest, do I hear?

Video.
Erm, what are you gather all this information on magic for anyway?
Video;
In my day, magic was a lot less sensible and disorderly than this new stuff.

It's a small list, even if it's a strict one.

[He jots that down on a notebook pulled from underneath his hat.] Talent....must be this...."magical talent"....I read about....
[He mutters a bit more to himself.]

I'd suggest you just readin' some fantasy novels, kid. A lot of us didn't know about magic for real until we imagined it. Nobody went to 'school' for it like they do in the modern age. We made it up and changed the rules ourselves--so, you've got more of a chance to do that here where the readin' material might be pretty inspirin'.

Ah...the pursuit of knowledge. There is truly no more inspiring of a path.

Go and look up the old Firbolg tales in the library and see what you can pull up. If you find any story you're really fond of, you can come to me and I'll try to retell it just like the old bards.
no subject
Ooo, that's good. [Something else is jotted down on the next page of his notebook. Calculations and estimations are imprinted enough to almost be legible even backwards.] I take it you were there?
no subject
So, they obviously had quite a few stories behind them that we loved hearin'.
