I feel a little silly typing into a mirror, so I think that I'll say hi this way instead. [she laughs] Not that I won't look much less stupid if this doesn't work!

Anyway, hello there to everyone who can hear me! My name is Nepeta and I'm clawsitively brand new around here. I'm really sorry to hear that things are going badly in this world, but I kind of had my own problems back home. So I guess since we can't go back until things get fixed here I'll be working extra hard to hurry it up.

But I've got a question in the meantime that I hope somebody can answer. Is there any way to bring specific people here? If I can't go back home just yet then I'd at least like to know that my friends are somewhere a little safer.

[the frown is almost audible in her voice, but it perks back up fairly quickly]

If by some chance you guys are here already, you better tell me right away! There'll be shell to pay if I have to walk around and find you myself.

[And so he does, moving down the hall to her room and very lightly tapping on the door - only cracking the wood a tiny bit oops

He braces himself for a pouncegreet.]

[Nepeta hops up and practically dashes to the door, having been waiting eagerly for a knock. she flings it open, grin plastered across her face -

and immediately freezes because this is not her Equius. her entire body tenses up and she shrinks into her hood a little more on instinct, completely at a loss as to what to do.

she can't even think of something to say besides 'um' and so just stands there, gaping at him in the doorway like an idiot.]

[The door is wrenched open, just as he expected, and he freezes. But then he stops and stares as she stares at him, a very shocked and almost disappointed look on her face. He's also never seen that hood on his own Nepeta before. What a strange garment.

It seems obvious immediately what the problem is. She's not his Nepeta.]

...Oh.

I'm sorry.

[she's not sure whether she's apologizing to him or herself or if the distinction really matters. maybe Nepeta should have known better when he mentioned the other wrong-blooded trolls, but she'd wanted so badly for it to be him.

but it's not, and now she's staring at an Equius that she doesn't know. he'd certainly sounded like her own, but how far did that carry? there was no way to know for sure.

she shifts a little, steps back a bit from the doorway. she's not sure whether she wants to slam it in his face or invite him in.]

[He hesitates, then steps forward as well, putting out a hand in case she closes the door]

I'm sorry, also. [His eyes flick to her symbol, and he purses his lips when he sees that she doesn't display her blood colour. Does that mean that she's red-blooded, like Karkat? It must. Her hood is certainly lurid enough.] What colour am I supposed to be, in your experience?

Tyrian. So it was kind of easy to tell we made a mistake.

[she smiles a little bit, trying to ease the awkwardness a little. he seems to want to stay so she takes a chance and steps fully into the apartment, trusting that he'll follow. hopefully he's similar enough that this won't be a bad decision.]

Tyrian? [That's a bit of a choking noise there. Him, a sea dweller? How awful. He rather likes his own position within the hierarchy. He actually wouldn't really want to be right on top.

He sees her backing up as a bit of an invitation, and he follows almost on automatic, especially with her smiling like that. He closes the door, but then ducks his head, unsure of what to say. Maybe the current topic is all right.]

There are several tyrians here...

Yeah, tyrian. And you've got absolutely clawful plans for when you're emperor. [she laughs. it's easy to untense a little despite herself when she's looking at someone with his face.

at the news of more tyrians she raises her eyesbrow in mild surprise]

Wow, really? That's a little funny; I thought there weren't supposed to be that many around.

Do I? [His expression turns thoughtful. He never really thought about what he'd do if he were emperor, and he flushes a bit at the thought. It's certainly far above his station to even consider]

Sollux is tyrian, and there are two Feferis... I think they're all from different worlds.

You do! You're lucky you've got people to tell you what an idiot you are though, so I don't think they'll ever happen.

[NOT IF SHE AND KANAYA HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT YEEEEAH

although now it's Nepeta's turn to look a little pensive.]

They must be! I mean, the Sollux and Feferi I know are nowhere near being seadwellers.

I'm not an idiot, surely. [Horselike snort]

The Sollux I know is yellow-blooded, but Feferi is tyrian where I come from.

[He pauses, then says delicately] And I presume that you hide your own blood colour for a reason.

When it comes to royal policy you're the biggest dummy I know. [she giggles, but stills almost immediately at the inquiry into her own blood. her expression is still pleasant, but there's a little wariness in her eyes]

I just don't think that my blood color should have anything to do with people's opinions of me, that's all.

[He harrumphs again, scowling suspiciously at her] That's exactly what Karkat Vantas said.

[she raises an eyebrow, honestly baffled at what that's supposed to mean] Ok? I'm glad to hear that other people don't care about dumb blood stuff in your universe too.

No. It's because he is a f-- A mutant-blooded troll, with unnatural red blood.

[the mystified expression only grows at that]

That's really clawful for your Karkat, but I don't have mutant blood.

[Open mouth. Close it. Stare.] You don't?

No, I don't. [duuuuuuuuuuuuuh]

Oh... well that's excellent. [Well... fiddlesticks. Now he still has no idea what blood colour she is] Ah, my Nepeta is a greenblood.

Green's a nice color! [she smiles. NOT GETTIN' ANY COLOR FROM HER, SORRY] My friend Aradia has green blood.

She does? [He is sweating now, so confused. How to find out? She clearly doesn't want to tell him.] Ah, that's quite nice. Aradia is a rustblood where I come from. Uh. So what blood colour are you, Nepeta?

[rustblood Aradia? Nepeta doubted that could have changed her much, considering what a positive outlook she had on life. a lower caste wouldn't get her down the way it did to Eridan.

at his question she grins and swings her arms a little, cheerfully stonewalling him.]

Not one that matters when it comes to talking with people! But I promise I'm not the only one of my color.

But...why? [He loses some of his composure] You don't trust me? Do you think that I'll harm you, or treat you badly?

[the smile drops because ouch man way to hit her right in the insecurities. she grips the edges of her cape, trying her best to keep playing this off as just a minor life choice sort of thing.]

No, of course not! I just don't think that what's in my veins should have anything to do with the way people act around me.

Well. [He frowns] I do. And I swear that I won't hurt you.
