I want to personally thank everyone who helped fend off the invaders. We've come through the other side, and the city is more or less standing. Thank you.

If anyone is interested in hiring on as a more permanent police volunteer, contact me individually and we can set up a trial period.

Now, I believe I owe a couple people some drinks. Sergeant? Xiuh?

I believe I owe you a story, also. However, if this doesn't happen sometime in the next hour or so, I may have to write you a rain cheque until whenever I wake up. Which will ideally be before next week, but I cannot promise anything.

If you want to sleep first, that's fine, but I'm getting a drink in about ten minutes at the Tipsy Gnome near the docks. I'll be there for a while if you decide to stop by.

::Perhaps he ought to go to bed, but he's still a bit too keyed up from the siege to shut his mind down enough to rest. And so, he makes his way down to the Tipsy Gnome about fifteen minutes later. At least A'aladash is fairly easy to spot, so he heads over to where she is.::

Evening, Chief.

[She's definitely not going to bed any time soon-- she's way too keyed up herself, and there were some moments where thinking of this drink was all that got her through them.

She's sitting at a table knocking one back when he comes in, the bar itself a little dark and seedy but not cheap. Mostly there's parties sitting at their own tables, not alone or looking for someone to pick up. Aala sets the glass back on the table when he approaches, and gives him a nod.]

Evening. Think that must've been the longest week of my life, except maybe after the week I got promoted.

[But that was a different story, a much longer one.]

::Dark and seedy is something that sets him on edge a little, but he's certain that any place the chief of police would frequent is on the up and up. Or at least enough so that he shouldn't feel guilty spending money there. He takes a seat across from her, resting his face in his hands for a brief moment before looking back up.::

I can't say I've had longer weeks than that, though that felt like a week full of what had been the longest day of my life.

Though I think I'd like to hear about the week that could possibly top this past one for you.

[If you go to one too much on the up and up, then it's full of off-duty cops, and becomes a cop bar. Aala likes to get away from the people she works with sometimes-- hence one that's just slightly seedy.

She slides a beer over to him across the table (she'd had one ready) before answering. If he was putting his face in his hands even for a second, he clearly needed it.] Let's just say I didn't get promoted for my charming good looks and mouthy record. I believe it's your turn for story telling today.

Well, coincidentally, I did get promoted for my record. I believe I mentioned that I was transferred out to the countryside for political reasons, yes? ::He sips the beer gratefully. Hnh, it's a bit different than what he's used to, but certainly not bad. He could get rather used to it.::

To give you an idea of my record, it was rather exemplary. My arrest rate was a bit higher than the rest of the Met, and I was a member of several special task forces up until I got stabbed in the hand. Had to take some time to recuperate, but afterwards, I was very ready to go back to the streets.

Sounds like a deserved promotion, [she says, impressed. Aala might be a bit snarky, but she doesn't mind giving credit where it's due.]

But they sent you out to the country instead? What's it like out there? I've been in Darstone my whole life, and there aren't exactly a lot of vacation opportunities.

Apparently I was making everyone else look bad. ::His tone is dry enough to make the Sahara look like a tropical rainforest.::

The country is rather lovely. Fairly open. The people were a bit insular, I suppose. They weren't terribly fond of me showing up with a record like that and more of a city police officer view of enforcing the law. Still, I actually did come to like the place. The village -Sandford- won village of the year numerous years in a row. Rather low crime rate, really. Idyllic. Seemed peaceful. ::He's avoiding mentioning something.::

What? No reward of gold? Shiny medals? Not even a cake?

We're a little strapped for resources right now, but I'll buy you a drink. Might as well if I'm handing them out.

You have favorites? That's flattering, but I prefer talking lizard.

Oh, good. I never liked dragons. They always shit on my boots and burn my hair.

Wouldn't miss it.

I've never met one. They're not a big fan of being underground.

[ Ah, The Tipsy Gnome. It was as familiar as the lines of her palm by now, but it didn't have rat piss ale, smarmy pirates and chatty dwarves to really make it feel like home. She's already at a table, nursing a drink in her hand. ]

[A'aladash makes a stop at the bar to get her own drink first-- a fairly stout lager-- before heading over. As the only human in the bar, it wasn't exactly hard to spot her, and she takes a seat without waiting for an invitation, settling into the chair heavily with all her armor.]

I don't think I got your name. Call me Kadra and we can toast to fending off a horde of angry tribesmen.

[ Whoa. She is a giant, talking lizard. Hawke smiles. ]

Hawke. You'd be hearing that name a lot for the next year, I'm sure.

[That certainty provokes a trace of amusement.]

Good or bad? If it's bad you might want to have someone else hearing about it.

A little bit of both. I might favor one over the other, I might not. The only thing for certain is that I'll be looking fantastic doing either.

Now. We're not going to worry our pretty little lizard snouts over details, are we? Tonight, we celebrate.

[She snorts.] You might look fantastic, but only one of us has a pretty snout at this table.

[Aala raises her glass.] Cheers? I have the feeling there would've been a much bigger mess without all of you around. Anything that makes my job easier deserves a toast. [It had far from escaped her notice that the newcomers had some seriously impressive fighting skills, based on the reports she'd gotten from the siege.]

[ She clinks their drinks together and gulps down a hearty amount. ] You tell me. I was surprised when I wasn't the only one that could deal with the invasion.

I know. I was against bringing anyone in, but maybe they had a point, [she admits, as gracefully as she can. Since she's not talking to a Council member at the moment, that's fairly gracefully.]

Or maybe they're just good at picking who to kidnap. I don't know-- they don't tell anything to me.

Alcohol is definitely needed after all that.

You're telling me. And now that Yakisha's made her announcement-- 'scuse me, Madame Speaker's made her announcement-- we're really in the thick of it.

Yeah. Considering the, um... Changes she's made recently, I bet you're really busy.

What do you want to bet every new change she makes is going to make me even busier?

Though she's doing pretty good at breaking her own news. Guess you'll have some free time.

I am so not taking that bet.

But I'll appreciate the free time, definitely. I can come bring you food during your shifts if you want.

[There's a short pause. Does bringing her food mean something? It's Xiuh, so probably not...]

How about we make that drink I owe you dinner instead? I'd rather not get distracted in the middle of my shift-- we can meet afterward. [What exactly this is supposed to imply she doesn't indicate. Honestly, she's not sure herself.]

Dinner sounds like a lot of fun! I haven't gone out to dinner with anyone in ages! [She sounds really excited by the whole deal. If she's trying to imply anything by it, or thinks A'ala is, there's no indication.]

[She sounds pretty pleased herself.] Not exactly a whole lot of time to go out lately, huh? We'll have to drag our lonely asses down there and do something not work related for once. You want to pick the place?

Ooh! Okay! I heard about this really great new place that opened in Frogtown if you're feeling a little adventurous.

That's about the right speed of adventurous for me right now, [she admits wryly.] Tomorrow at six?

Sounds great! Should I meet you there or come pick you up somewhere? ...Or vice versa I guess! You could pick me up too!
